All about Bose and other alarm clocks and sleep

Even with the best alarm clock and wakeup call in the world, getting up is still going to be pretty tough unless one has had a good night’s sleep. With this in mind, Bose Alarm Clock presents the following tips to help people sleep well and start the day in the best mood possible.

Keeping a regular schedule can work wonders for sleep. The regular body schedule set by going to bed and waking up at the same time every day helps people go to sleep much faster and wake up less frequently. While this is difficult to maintain in the modern world, the same sleep schedule should be followed even on weekends if at all possible. Also, while it may be impossible for shift workers, it has been shown sleeping at night is best for both sleep and health reasons.

Having to get up to go to the restroom is very disruptive to sleep. Because of this, it is not a good idea to consume too many liquids before going to bead unless dehydrated. Also, despite being a sedative, alcohol actually disrupts sleep and makes trips to the bathroom more frequent.

Exercise has been shown to make sleep more restful. Some type of aerobic exercise such as running is the best. However, doing this exercise too close to bedtime can sometimes make sleep more difficult.

While there still is hot debate as to the effects of eating at night on weight gain, it certainly is not good for sleep to eat too much at night. Night eating can disrupt sleep with heartburn and forces the body to work on digesting food when it should be resting and recovering from the day. Avoid major meals for at least two hours before bedtime and keep any snacks to a minimum.

The bedroom should be used for sleep and not for activities like television. While some people use televisions to go to sleep, the bright, flashing lights of TV and computer screens actually stimulates the mind and may inhibit the production of natural sleep hormones like melatonin. For this reason, it is a good idea to avoid TV and computers an hour or more before bedtime.

This is where that modern Bose alarm clock or any clock that will handle a MP3 player can come in handy. As an alternative to TV, listening to things like audio books is a much better way to get to sleep. With a wide variety of materials available online, just download the content to an iPod or other device, connect it to the alarm clock and set the timer. This provides a relaxing way to go to sleep without any light stimulating the mind.

Please consider this and other sleep advice and the morning alarm will sound a lot nicer.
