Bose Alarm ClockAll about Bose and their products to include alarm
clocks
Since Bose was founded in 1964, it has built an international presence and reputation. While Bose has its
detractors who are less than impressed by its products and prices, there is no denying the positive image the
company has built for itself. Even those with only a passing interest in sound systems have heard of Bose and know
it has a reputation for quality sound and products.
Although originally working as a professor at MIT before founding the company, Dr. Amar G. Bose, decided to go into
the speaker business because of a disappointing experience trying to buy quality speakers when he was a student. He
felt that music systems needed to be designed with the listener more in mind. Ever since then, Bose has been a
company focused on research and development with tomorrow's products in mind.
This type of design of music systems with the listener more in mind is called psychoacoustics. At Bose, this
centered on speakers that produced reflected sound aimed at the listener's head to produce a sound more like live
music. This led to the Model 901, which became a great commercial success in spite of its very unconventional
design and pentagonal shape.
Building on this initial success, Bose has launched a whole array of audio products for cars, theaters and homes.
Always in tune with the times to this day, new, smaller designs make their products less noticeable but just as
prevalent as radios, computer speakers and of course alarm clocks.
For all its success, Bose is far from universally loved though. Many contend their products are overpriced and
overrated. These critics also contend that Bose's success is built primarily on its marketing savvy rather than any
superiority of its products.
There certainly are many who choose Bose products simply for the name or style, and products just as good if not
better can often be found at lower prices. However, with their unique, compact designs and the Bose name, many
people simply feel they cannot go wrong with their products and often do not mind paying extra to be assured of
quality. Because of this, Bose is likely to remain popular as long as the company can maintain its image and keep
producing cutting-edge products people want.
